Water: 1 gallon per person, per day. Be sure to stock up on enough water to last your family 3-7 days. The human body can survive 30 days without food, but only 3 without water.

Food: Non-Perishable or canned food is a safe bet. Snack foods that are high protein will fill you up and give your body what it needs. Don't forget a can opener, and enough food for infants or children!

Clothing: Closed toe shoes and sturdy rain gear can help prevent accidents when you are navigating the outdoors after the storm.

First Aid Kit: Consider gathering band-aids, tape, moist towelettes, garbage bags, plastic ties, whistle, dust masks, prescription medications, and more to be prepared.

Radio & Batteries: Knowing what is happening during the storm is vital to survival. Is the worst over, or was it just another band? Make sure to have a radio and extra batteries on hand to stay informed.

Flashlights: Don't forget flashlights and extra batteries of multiple sizes! Consider LED flashlights or solar-powered rechargeable devices for prolonged use, if needed, and plan for one flashlight per person.

Telephones: Make sure your cell phone is fully charged and have a a spare fully charged battery ready to go. Also be sure to have a regular (not cordless) landline phone.

Cash & Credit Cards: Keep small bills and Credit Cards handy as banks and ATMs may be unavailable for a few days following the storm.

Toys, Books, & Games: Keep kids entertained while the power is out with books, toys, card games, and board games.

Fuel: Before the storm hits, fill up the tanks of all your cars. If the storm takes a turn, you may be living in the new evacuation area. Gas stations may also be closed for a few days after the storm.
