This is the legacy that 30 years of commitment and dedication, from inception to present time, is affording the residents of SilverLakes.

A Trip Down Memory Lane

From the very beginning, SilverLakes commitment to Environmental Recovery was deemed ..."more than exceptional - it is a near miracle of man’s transformation of nature." as stated in the March 5, 1992 article in the Miami Herald’s Parade of Homes article shown below. With the winning of a coveted Gold FEMA Award in the category of Overall Community and Land planning, SilverLakes has been a trendsetter for transforming a desolate limestone quarry/mine site into "...an environmentally sensitive community in the finest traditions of Florida lifestyles."

Commemorative Cove
Opens at the SilverLakes Community Park

The Commemorative Cove officially opened on
September 3, 2021 at the SilverLakes Community Park!

"We are happy to announce the opening of a new area
within the SilverLakes Community Park:
The SilverLakes Commemorative Cove.
It is an area dedicated to acknowledging the environmentally dedicated effort made to reclaim a desolate strip mining limestone quarry and turn it into the
beautiful neighborhood that SilverLakes is today.
The area will remind everyone that it is up to us,
the residents of SilverLakes, to continue this legacy.
We should strive to keep our grounds, parks,
and lakes pristine and to preserve the
Waterfowl Habitat Designation
that was awarded to SilverLakes by
the State of Florida Bureau of Mine Reclamation in 1999."
